We all know that every small device we hold in our hands has a history that starts long before it is manufactured and doesn’t end when we give it up for a newer model. Jen Rhee and her team of designers are not satisfied with those vague generalities. They want details.
Armed with the facts, they create
infographics that reveal the true cost of an iPhone. That brilliantly designed little smart
phone will never look quite the same. As we open those amazing apps, share
photos with friends, text our pals and even make a phone call or two, here are
some of the things we are contributing to:
- 112 of 158 suppliers have not stored or properly handled chemicals, according to Apple’s 2011 audits
- The notorious Foxconn factory in China
- Miscarriages in Guiyu
Care2 Causes bloggers have taken Apple to task for its environmental record (see links
below). This infographic is a visual brain hit, a handy reminder that all our
buying decisions have impacts that ripple outward.
